5g network in india

In telecommunications, 5G is the fifth generation technology standard for broadband cellular networks, which cellular phone companies began deploying worldwide in 2019, and is the planned successor to the 4G networks which provide connectivity to most current cellphones.[2] 5G networks are predicted to have more than 1.7 billion subscribers worldwide by 2025, according to the GSM Association.[3] Like its predecessors, 5G networks are cellular networks, in which the service area is divided into small geographical areas called cells. All 5G wireless devices in a cell are connected to the Internet and telephone network by radio waves through a local antenna in the cell. The main advantage of the new networks is that they will have greater bandwidth, giving higher download speeds,[2] eventually up to 10 gigabits per second (Gbit/s).[4] Due to the increased bandwidth, it is expected the networks will increasingly be used as general internet service providers for laptops and desktop computers, competing with existing ISPs such as cable internet, and also will make possible new applications in internet of things (IoT) and machine to machine areas. 4G cellphones are not able to use the new networks, which require 5G enabled wireless devices.

5g network speed

The increased speed is achieved partly by using additional higher-frequency radio waves in addition to the low and medium band frequencies used in previous cellular networks.[2] However, higher-frequency radio waves have a shorter useful physical range, requiring smaller geographic cells. For wide service, 5G networks operate on up to three frequency bands – low, medium, and high.[5][2] A 5G network will be composed of networks consisting of up to three different types of cells, each requiring specific antenna designs as well as providing a different tradeoff of download speed to distance and service area. 5G cellphones and wireless devices connect to the network through the highest speed antenna within range at their location:

What will 5G do?

5G is the 5th generation mobile network. It is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. 5G enables a new kind of network that is designed to connect virtually everyone and everything together including machines, objects, and devices.

5G wireless technology is meant to deliver higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, ultra low latency, more reliability, massive network capacity, increased availability, and a more uniform user experience to more users. Higher performance and improved efficiency empower new user experiences and connects new industries.

What are the disadvantages of 5G networks?

Though, 5G technology is researched and conceptualized to solve all radio signal problems and hardship of mobile world, but because of some security reason and lack of technological advancement in most of the geographic regions, it has following shortcomings

·      Technology is still under process and research on its viability is going on.

·      The speed, this technology is claiming seems difficult to achieve (in future, it might be) because of the incompetent technological support in most parts of the world.

·      Many of the old devices would not be competent to 5G, hence, all of them need to be replaced with new one — expensive deal.

·      Developing infrastructure needs high cost.

·      Security and privacy issue yet to be solved.

Is 5G network available in India?

The Indian government has given permission to Airtel, Jio, Vodafone Idea, and MTNL to test the 5G network in India

The 5G network might soon be live in India as the government has taken its first step to bring the next-gen mobile connectivity to the country. On Tuesday, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) published a press release announcing that it has given permission to telecom companies in India to conduct 5G trials. The government agency has approved applications from Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea (Vi), and MTNL to start 5G trials in the country. The telecom companies will be given 6 months of time to test the 5G technology on their network. It includes a two-month period for the procurement of the equipment.

When Airtel will launch 5G in India?

Commercial launch of 5G services is expected 4-5 months after acquiring spectrum in auctions expected to take place later this year or early 2022.

Is Jio launching 5G?

At the recent India Mobile Congress (IMC), Reliance Industries' chairman Mukesh Ambani announced his telecom venture Jio's plans to launch 5G technology next year. "Jio will pioneer the 5G revolution in India in the second half of 2021. It will be powered by indigenous-developed network, hardware and technology components. Jio's 5G service will be a testimony to your inspiring vision of AtmaNirbhar Bharat. I can say with utmost confidence that 5G will enable India to not only participate in the fourth industrial revolution but also to lead it," Ambani had said. Fair enough!
