Apart from the chaos on the roads, this additional public transport will bring a sense of convenience to millions of Mumbaikars who need to reach their destination in a hurry, especially in the evenings, when public transport service is limited and vehicular traffic can be monstrous.

 

Mumbai can potentially benefit from this particular mode of transport, as it would reduce congestion in the city.

 

The threat of a law like the one for pillion riders does not exist at present, but the potential for inconvenience and inconvenience of putting passengers in danger is a concern that needs to be looked into before an ordinance is made in this regard.

We need to improve road infrastructure so that these vehicles can travel in a smoother manner. There are 1.2 lakh vehicles on the roads in Mumbai. The vehicles are congested during peak hours because of over-crowding. As compared to the cars, 2 wheelers and cabs, public transport is considered expensive and uneconomical.

 

There are over 120,000 vehicles registered for general public transportation in the city. This is the widest network of public transportation service in the world. However, there is no system for use of these vehicles as rentals. Hence, we need a system in place, so that private vehicles can be hired for short duration.

 

In the present scenario, if someone wants to hire a car for five hours, he needs to pay Rs15,000 or more. This is too high. We need to introduce a system, which will be convenient for all, except the customer, as it is at present.
